The Graduate School would like to shine a spotlight on the following graduate students!
Adoma Manful, MPH – a second-year Epidemiology Ph.D. student, was one of 12 participants selected for the 2023 Society for Epidemiologic Research’s Student Workshop for her proposal entitled “Disparities in Lung Cancer Screening”.
Creea Shannon – a Biomedical Informatics Ph.D. student who is currently a 2023 White House Science and Technology Intern, launched her new children’s book “Cre the Scientist” on National Children’s Picture Book Day. She also received the VU 2023 Ethel M. Wilson Endowment Scholarship. She was also selected as a 2023 Clinton Global Initiative Fellow.
Lauren Covelli – a Ph.D. student in the Department of Leadership, Policy, & Organizations,won the AERA Dissertation and Research Grant Award for her project titled, “ACT Testing Policy in Tennessee: Effects on Test-Taking, Scores, and College Enrollment.”
Hannah Kistler – a Ph.D. student in the Department of Leadership, Policy, & Organizations, also won the AERA Dissertation and Research Grant Award for her project titled “Principal Attributes and Teachers’ Returns to Experience.”
Leigh Anne Tang – a Ph.D. student in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, organized a high school outreach event and pizza lunch at MLK High School in Nashville to provide an information session on biomedical informatics.
Thao Le – a Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology & Biophysics, will be defending her dissertation on April 19.
