Congratulations to Conor Smithson for winning the Provost’s Pathbreaking Discovery Award! This prestigious award, presented by the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs as well as the Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School, honors doctoral students who demonstrate exceptional research and scholarship.
Conor earned this recognition for his outstanding publication in the *Annual Review of Psychology*. This journal holds the top ranking in both the “Psychology (Science)” and “Psychology, Multidisciplinary (Social Science)” categories, with a 2023 impact factor of 23.6. Notably, this article expands upon the written portion of his Qualifying Exam (MAP). It is a strong example for our graduate students of how the MAP can lead to a novel and significant contribution to the field.
