Maria Castillo – 2024 December Student Spotlight

Maria Castillo, a Ph.D. student in the Education Policy and Leadership program, has been selected as a Jackson Scholar for the 2024-2026 cohort by the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA). The Jackson Scholars Network (JSN) provides a unique opportunity for graduate students of color to participate in structured networking, mentorship, and professional development, all aimed at enhancing their prospects for academic careers in educational leadership.

 

This two-year program, named in honor of Dr. Barbara L. Jackson (1928-2012), recognizes her as a distinguished leader, scholar, and mentor in educational administration for more than fifty years. The program honors her legacy as a pioneering figure who has significantly influenced individuals, institutions, and the fields of academic and applied research.
