On April 5th, the Annual Joel G. Hardman Student-Invited Pharmacology Forum was organized by the Pharmacology Program students and held in Alumni Hall. This year’s topic was “Pharmacology in the Wild, II”, and featured speakers such as Angela Calderón, Ph.D. from Auburn University, Stephen Mackessy, Ph.D. from Colorado State University, and Timothy Wencewicz, Ph.D. from Washington University. The audience learned about topics such as botanical drug interactions, snake venoms, and natural products that can be used to combat antibiotic resistance. Vanderbilt faculty members were also invited to participate in an afternoon discussion panel, which included Gary Sulikowski, Ph.D., Professor of Chemistry and Pharmacology, Jennifer Herington, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Neonatology, Daria Kim, Ph.D., and Alex Schuppe, Ph.D., both Assistant Professors of Chemistry.
