This month, we are celebrating the following Graduate School students for their achievements!

Earlier this month Jacob L. Steenwyk, a PhD candidate in Biological Sciences, was selected as a recipient of the Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award. This award, announced earlier this month by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, recognizes outstanding achievement in graduate studies in biological sciences. Congratulations Jacob!

 

Valeria Hurtado

Valeria Hurtado

Congratulations to Valeria Hurtado, who is in the Fisk-Vanderbilt MS to PhD Bridge Program, on a successful proposal to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Office for Astronomy Development (OAD) in support of the Central American – Caribbean Bridge Program in Astrophysics! Valera’s funded proposal will now support remote interns within the program, provide group therapy services, and allocate funds for mentors and people giving workshops on social justice, computer programming, and professional development.

Antonio Porras-Valverde

PhD candidate in astrophysics at Vanderbilt and Bridge program alumnus, Antonio Porras-Valverde, also sent in a successful proposal to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Office for Astronomy Development (OAD) in support of the Central American – Caribbean Bridge Program in Astrophysics. Katie Berg

Katie Berg, a PhD candidate in Hearing and Speech Sciences, received the Departmental Young Investigator Award. This award is given to a doctoral student that shows the greatest promise for a future career in the field. Congratulations Katie!
