Three Vanderbilt graduate students and their advisors were recently awarded Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study:
- Neuroscience student Justin Avila and mentor Michelle Southard-Smith
- Biological sciences student Jacob Steenwyk and mentor Antonis Rokas
- Neuroscience student Kellie Williford and mentor Danny Winder
Through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study supports diversity and inclusion in the sciences, and through this program trains these young scientists for leadership roles in the academe.
