Position Details

An immediate opening for a postdoctoral position exists in Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The position involves the provision of individual CBT to adults, consultation and assessment services to larger interdisciplinary treatment teams, involvement in grant-funded research providing individual MI and group CBT for pain management, and engagement in teaching of evidence-based psychotherapies to psychiatric residents.

Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences invites interested and qualified applicants to apply for its Academic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship training program. The Academic Psychology track is a combined placement providing training in research, teaching, and clinical services, for those interested in pursuing an academic career. 


Fellows will be providing individual and group cognitive-behavioral psychological services in an adult hospital-based outpatient clinic. There will also be opportunities to collaborate and provide group CBT on in-patient units and day treatment programs, based on applicant interests and experience. In addition to individual and group therapy, fellows will provide consultation and assessment services to larger interdisciplinary treatment teams. 


Fellows will also be actively engaged in behavioral health research, providing individual motivational interviewing interventions in addition to group CBT for pain management. Based on experience and interest, fellows are welcome to actively participate in the development and dissemination of this research. Lastly, fellows will be actively involved in didactic teaching of evidence-based psychotherapies and clinical supervision of advanced psychiatric residents. 
Completion of an APA accredited internship is required. Completion of an APA accredited PhD or PsyD Clinical Psychology program is required. Start date August 1, 2019 (negotiable). Stipend $48,432.
