|Department of Neurological Surgery|
Position Description: We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher to work in a human electrophysiology and neuroimaging laboratory in the Department of Neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN). Dario Englot, MD, PhD is a neurosurgeon-scientist and the principal investigator of the lab using electrocorticography (ECoG)/intracranial EEG and functional/structural MRI techniques to better understand brain network pathophysiology in epilepsy, a devastating neurological disorder. Brain networks involved in normal cognitive processes and motor/sensory integration will also be examined in the lab.
This post-doc position will be focused within the ECoG side of the lab, and will involve the analysis of ECoG recordings during the resting-state, during seizures, and during various tasks in epilepsy patients implanted with intracranial electrodes. A major goal of the lab is to understand how seizures in patients with epilepsy lead to dysfunction in brain networks related to cognition, behavior, and consciousness.
Requirements: This position requires a Ph.D. in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field, with proficiency in MATLAB and/or computer programming. Prior experience in ECoG and/or electrophysiological signal analysis are preferred. Both recent Ph.D. graduates and individuals who have completed a previous post-doc will be considered. An excellent academic record is critical, including a history of high-quality publications, presentations at national meetings, and prior submission of grant applications. Applicants must be reliable, honest, hard-working, independent, and possess excellent communication skills. A minimum time commitment of one to two years is expected, with the potential opportunity for yearly renewal. Salary will be commensurate with University guidelines, and benefits will be provided.
How to Apply: Please email a CV, a brief statement of research interests and career goals, and the contact information for two to three references to Dr. Dario Englot at firstname.lastname@example.org.
