POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICOLOGY at VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY

Vanderbilt University is seeking postdoctoral associates for training and research in the development and application of organs-on-chips in environmental toxicology. The successful candidate will participate in the efforts of several national organ-on-chip programs, including EPA-funded projects focused on liver, breast, bone, and fetal membrane organs-on-chips, and NIH/NCATS-funded projects developing both a neurovascular unit that replicates the human blood-brain barrier and more general platforms that enable control and integration of liver, kidney, and gut tissue constructs (under development at collaborating institutions). Up to two years of support will be provided.
Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. with a major or strong minor in biochemistry, chemistry, or pharmacology, but because of the emphasis on organs-on-chip, strong candidates with expertise in microfluidics, analytical chemistry, and/or bioengineering and an interest in toxicology are urged to apply. Appropriate postdoctoral trainees with an M.D. or D.V.M. will also be accepted. The postdoctoral trainee will be encouraged to attend formal course offerings in toxicology, systems biology, and organs-on-chip engineering, to participate in the research and literature seminars on toxicology, and to audit other formal graduate courses that are relevant to toxicology. Experience with human cell culture is preferred. Prior demonstration of written and oral communication skills is required.
