Maureen Fieldhouse and Darby Heffer, doctoral students in the Department of Chemistry, recently organized a day-long event with Eli Lilly. This event included lab tours, an informational session with two visiting speakers from Eli Lilly, an informal lunch, and two hours of one-on-one meetings with the visiting staff.
Maureen and Darby started a graduate American Chemical Society division as soon as they began their Ph.D. program. They had gained prior experience with starting ACS chapters at their undergraduate institutions, and they understood the benefits that it provided for professional development. Maureen and Darby have engaged in tireless work to organize this event and initiate a connection with industry professionals, in addition to their other responsibilities as graduate students.
